Cyfeillion Cadw Tremadog

Cyfeillion Cadw Tremadog (Friends of Tremadog) is a Historic Buildings Preservation Trust, set up in 1991 to protect and preserve the architectural, historical and structural heritage of Tremadog. It was established in response to the threat to demolish the building in Tremadog now known as the Tannery. This was originally a Loom Hall, part of Madocks' Manufactory. The trust was instrumental in preventing its demolition, and in persuading the local authority to carry out emergency work to prevent the loss of the building.

The purpose of the trust is to acquire and repair buildings of historic interest; and to sell or lease them, returning any profit to the fund for the next project. Between 1996 and 2006 the trust rescued, converted into offices, and now lets the former Saint Mary's Church.

Support our Work

Supporters

Supporters are invited to the AGM, which is held in Tremadog as a Public Meeting, usually in February. Although Supporters have no voting rights under CCT's constitution, the trustees are pleased to hear their views and open to suggestions arising from Supporters.

Visits

The trust no longer holds regular Open Days as there were and fewer and fewer participants. However a visit may be arranged by application to the secretary via Contact Us at the top of this page. The Coadestone Arch and gate may be seen at all times, as these abutt the pavement.

Trustees

At present, their are seven trustees, all Tremadog residents or living close by. See the link at the foot of this page to the Mems and Arts page for more information.

Volunteers

We are always glad to hear from anyone with time, experience, strength, professional or people skills to offer in support of the trust. If you care about the future of Tremadog, then please get in touch!

Donations

CCT relies largely on donations to raise funds to cover its costs in raising awareness of the historic importance of Tremadog, and its economic potential today. Although we can make applications for capital funding for particular projects to major funding bodies such as Cadw and the Heritage Lottery, these bodies do not make revenue funding. Nor is their capital funding for projects ever at 100%, so CCT has also to raise capital match-funding. Tremadog lies within one of the more economically deprived regions of the UK, with a small and scattered population. This makes raising matchfunding locally very difficult.

The trustees of Cyfeillion Cadw Tremadog will be truly grateful for any gift, large of small, one-off or regular, that will further their vision of restoring Tremadog to its former glory, and enabling a wider audience to appreciate its unique qualities. Please contact us to make a donation.
